The Neumann U 87 Ai combines the legendary dual-diaphragm capsule of the U 67 with FET circuitry and a transformer-balanced output, delivering the renowned voicing and low-noise performance that has made it a staple for singers, voice-over artists, and recording engineers.
The U 87 Ai includes a switchable -10 dB pad, enabling it to capture sound pressure levels up to 127 dB without distortion. This makes it suitable for recording loud sources such as drums and amplifiers. Additionally, a low-cut filter helps manage low-frequency buildup.
Equipped with an elastically suspended dual-diaphragm capsule, the U 87 Ai offers three selectable polar patterns (omni, cardioid, and figure-8). This versatility allows it to adapt to various recording environments and applications, from studio vocals to instrument miking.
